The Fire Starter was devised in 4 weeks by the cast and the director, with assistance from Andy Burden, and is based on the life of Dr William Price (1800-1893). The Fire Starter was created with the support of Southern and South East Arts, West Wiltshire District Council and Heaven Scent Incense.

Mark Bishop trained at East 15. A director of Big State, he has performed in Walk This Way, Spaghetti Weston-Super-Mare, Hitting Dennis and Sixteen Types of Happiness. He directed Gone West. He has also performed for Innerroom Theatre Company: The Fisher King, The Tempest, In A Room, Six Is Nine and My Big Desk. Mark performs all over the world with the Natural Theatre Company. He makes video documentation and evaluation films and works extensively with young people in film and theatre.

Julie Black also trained at East 15. She is a director of Big State and has performed in Gone West, Walk This Way, Spaghetti Weston-Super-Mare, Hitting Dennis and Sixteen Types of Happiness. Other theatre includes If Mr Frollo Ever Finds Out, This Happy Breed, Short Shakes, The Rover, The Importance of Being Earnest. Film & TV include The Old Tool Box, Toast, I know a Girl Who… and The Bill.

Ashley Christmas trained at Leicester Polytechnic. She has performed for Big State in Gone West and Spaghetti Weston-Super-Mare. Ashley has also performed for the Belgrade Theatre (Coventry), Hull Truck, Innerroom Theatre Company, Stopwatch, Cardboard and String and the Natural Theatre Company. Ashley has also played Queen Victoria on board the HMS Warrior 1860, Portsmouth.

John Nicholson trained at Circomedia. A founder member of Peepolykus he has devised and performed in all eight of their shows to date: No Man’s land, Squid, Let the Donkey Go, I am a Coffee, Horses for Courses, Midsummer Rude Mechanicals (NT commission), Goose Nights, Rhinoceros and Mindbender. Other recent theatre work includes The Lesson for Innerroom Theatre Company.
