BIG STATE was formed in 1996 by a group of professional performers.

BIG STATE are a co-operative who devise and perform original accessible comic theatre and through workshops use improvisation techniques and film to help young people develop their imagination and communication skills.

In September 2001 Big State became Company in Residence at the Arc Theatre, Trowbridge

Big State are committed to working in Outreach and Education; founded Big State Youth Theatre at The Pound Arts Centre, Corsham in 1998 and took over the Arc Senior Youth Theatre in Autumn 2001.

Big State are also currently involved in film projects for the Wiltshire Music Centre; Creative Factory for Bath Festivals Trust and recently received a First Light grant from the Film Council which is funding a film project with young people in partnership with the BS5 Youth Partnership project at Easton Community Centre in Bristol.

BIG STATE actors regularly work with Hull Truck, The Natural Theatre and Innerroom Theatre company.
